Why Certifications Matter

In the global coffee trade, certifications are more than paperwork — they are your guarantee that the coffee in your container matches the sample you approved. They unlock preferential tariffs, satisfy import regulations, and give your customers confidence in your supply chain.

Below are the certifications and quality documents that accompany every SuongDaLat shipment. Each one serves a specific purpose in the export chain — from the farm gate to your warehouse door.

🌱

Phytosanitary Certificate

Mandatory

Issued by: Plant Protection Department — Vietnam MARD

The phytosanitary certificate confirms that the green coffee beans are free from pests, diseases, and contaminants. It is a mandatory document for every agricultural export from Vietnam and is verified by an on-site inspector before each container is sealed.

✔ What this means for you: Your customs authority will clear the shipment without plant-health holds. The certificate includes the scientific name (Coffea arabica / Coffea canephora), declared quantity, and the inspector’s official stamp.
🏭

ISO 22000:2018

Food Safety

International Organization for Standardization

ISO 22000 is the global benchmark for food safety management systems. It covers every link in the supply chain — from raw material sourcing and processing to packaging and transport. Our facility operates under HACCP-based protocols audited to ISO 22000 standards.

✔ What this means for you: Your coffee is handled in a facility that follows internationally recognized hygiene, traceability, and contamination-prevention procedures. This certification is recognized by regulators and retailers worldwide.

HACCP

Food Safety

Hazard Analysis & Critical Control Points

HACCP is a preventive system that identifies and controls biological, chemical, and physical hazards throughout production — not just by testing the final product. For green coffee, this means monitoring moisture levels to prevent mold, screening for foreign matter, and maintaining clean transport conditions.

✔ What this means for you: Every lot passes through defined Critical Control Points (CCPs). If a hazard is detected at any point, the lot is quarantined and corrected before it reaches your container.
🇺🇸

FDA Registration

US Market

U.S. Food & Drug Administration

FDA facility registration is required for any food facility exporting to the United States. Our registration confirms that SuongDaLat’s processing and export operations comply with the U.S. Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) requirements for foreign suppliers.

✔ What this means for you: You can import SuongDaLat coffee into the U.S. with full confidence. Our FDA registration streamlines your Importer Security Filing (ISF) and Prior Notice submissions, reducing the risk of detention at port.
📜

Certificate of Origin (Form VN)

Mandatory

Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI)

The C/O certifies that your coffee is 100% of Vietnamese origin. This document is the key to preferential import tariffs under Vietnam’s free trade agreements — including CPTPP, EVFTA, UKVFTA, and RCEP. Without it, you pay the full MFN tariff rate.

✔ What this means for you: Depending on your market, the C/O can reduce your import duty to 0%. For a 20ft container valued at $15,000, this can save you $750–2,250 per shipment compared to non-preferential rates.
🇨🇳

GACC Registration

China Market

General Administration of Customs of China

Under China’s Decrees 248 and 249, all overseas food exporters must register with the GACC before their products can enter China. This registration covers our facility, product lines, and traceability systems as reviewed by Chinese customs authorities.

✔ What this means for you: If China is your target market, our GACC registration means your shipment won’t be rejected at the border. China imported over $300M of Vietnamese coffee in 2025 — registration is non-negotiable for this channel.

Our Quality Control Process

Certifications are the foundation. Our three-stage QC process ensures every lot meets the specs you signed off on.

1

Raw Material Inspection

Every incoming lot of green beans is tested for moisture content, water activity, screen size distribution, and defect count. Beans that fall outside our spec range are rejected before they enter processing. We also verify farm-level documentation including harvest date, variety confirmation, and any pesticide-use records.

2

Processing & In-Line QC

Beans move through hulling, polishing, gravity-table density sorting, and optical color sorting. At each stage, we pull samples to verify the process is within spec. Roast-sample cupping is performed daily during production runs. Any deviation triggers an immediate line-stop and corrective action.

3

Pre-Shipment Inspection & Sealing

Before stuffing, the final lot is sampled using ISO 4072 sampling protocols. We re-check moisture, screen size, defects, and cup profile against the approved Pre-Shipment Sample (PSS) we sent you. The container is inspected for cleanliness, bags are counted and labeled, and the seal number is photographed and shared with you before the truck leaves for port.
